TinCaps Announce Roster Moves

Fort Wayne TinCaps News Release


The Fort Wayne TinCaps announced the following roster moves, effective Friday, May 4:

RHP Michael Kelly has been transferred from Fort Wayne to extended spring training. Kelly, 19, had gone 0-2 with a 7.53 ERA in seven relief appearances. Through 14 1/3 innings, he had walked 18 and struck out 14, while surrendering 12 earned runs.

RHP James Needy has been transferred from Double-A San Antonio to Fort Wayne. Needy, 21, was selected in the sixth round by the Padres in the 2009 draft. The San Diego native began this season with Triple-A Tucson, making three appearances out of the bullpen, with no record and a 3.00 ERA in three innings. He was then transferred to Double-A Tucson where he made two relief appearances, with no record and a 1.69 ERA in 5 1/3 innings. Prior to this season, Needy had not pitched above Class-A Eugene.

The TinCaps roster currently stands at the Midwest League limit of 25 players.
