GENEVA, Ill. - Henry Moreno's one-out knock in the bottom of the ninth broke a 3-3 tie as Orlando Calixte crossed home plate, giving the Kane County Cougars a 4-3 victory over the Peoria Chiefs in front of 8,689 fans at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark on Friday night.

Calixte began the bottom of the ninth by drawing a walk against reliever Bryce Shafer (0-2). After Tim Ferguson sacrifice bunted Calixte to second, Moreno drilled a gapper to right-center, giving the Cougars (13-15) a series victory.

Mike Giovenco (1-2) was unable to protect a 3-2 lead in the top of the ninth as Paul Hoilman led off the frame with a double and scored on a wild pitch. Kane County had the advantage after scoring twice in the bottom of the seventh with Ferguson bunting home Lane Adams and Moreno cracking another two-bagger to score Calixte.

Peoria (11-17) didn't score until the top of the seventh when they netted two tallies off Robinson Yambati. Marco Hernandez knocked home Taylor Davis with a triple and came home on a wild pitch. Kellen Moen didn't allow a run in his six innings of work as he fanned four. Calixte also socked a home run in the fifth inning to put the Cougars in front, 1-0.

The Cougars begin a four-game road series on Saturday afternoon at Pohlman Field against the Beloit Snappers with a 2:00 first pitch. Right-hander Santiago Garrido (3-0) starts for the Cougars against right-hander Tim Shibuya (1-1).
