
Timely Hitting Helps Nuts to 5-2 Win

San Jose, CA. - Five two-out runs led the Modesto Nuts to a 5-2 win over the San Jose Giants on Thursday night at Municipal Stadium.
Wilson Soriano drove in Troy Stien with a RBI single in the second for the Nuts (34-37; 1-0) Ramiel Tapia scored on Correlle Prime's RBI single in the third. In the fourth, Zach Ocborne added a RBI double. Osborne tacked on two more, two-out runs in the eighth with a single.
Lefty Harrison Musgrave (W, 9-1) faced the minimum in his first three innings against the Giants (30-41; 0-1) and didn't give up a hit until the fourth. In the fifth, Musgrave gave up four consecutive singles, but stranded the bases loaded and allow just the single tally. Musgrave was done after five innings, gave up five hits and struck out four with no walks.
Tommy Hanson (L, 1-1) worked two innings and allowed just the one run in his start for the Giants.
Matt Carasiti (S, 3/4) worked a perfect ninth to secure the four-game series opening victory.
