Timbers, Thorns FC Team up with Local Partners for 12th Annual Stand Together Week September 5-9

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Timbers and Portland Thorns FC will team up with local partners for the 12th annual Stand Together Week Sept. 5-9. The comprehensive, week-long community initiative supports dozens of nonprofit projects and provides in-person volunteer opportunities across the city.

Each year, the City of Portland officially proclaim the week as the Portland Timbers & Thorns FC Stand Together Week. Fans are invited to volunteer and team up with mascot Timber Joey, Timbers, Timbers2 and Thorns FC players and club staff on the various projects.

With the help of partners Coca-Cola, NW Natural, Providence, Safeway, TikTok, Umpqua Bank and Zayo, 22 volunteer projects benefiting organizations focused on youth, the environment, and social equity are offered across the Portland metro area.

Since 2012, Stand Together Week has mobilized 6,875 volunteers to provide the Portland metro area with 23,464 hours of service at more than 300 events benefiting youth and the environment. Nonprofits served include, The Oregon Food Bank, the Children's Book Bank, Friends of Trees, Habitat for Humanity Portland, Project Lemonade, among many others.

Stand Together, the Timbers and Thorns' community outreach platform, represents the relationship between PTFC, fans, corporate partners, and community members and signifies the strong commitment the club has to supporting and standing by the community both on and off the field. The mission of Stand Together is to harness the power of sport to improve the lives of children and families in the region through purposeful programs, strategic partnerships and philanthropic giving.

Date Time Hosting Nonprofit Project Description Tues., Sept. 5 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Habitat for Humanity ReStore Sorting donated items, landscaping, organizing shelves, pricing donated items, rearranging/putting together furniture and metal recycling.

9 a.m. - 12 p.m. Friends of Trees Volunteers will be removing invasive English Ivy and Himalayan blackberry, cleaning up trash and mulching native plants.

10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Project Lemonade Work the retail floor helping youth find sizes and assist with check out once a shopper is done shopping. Wed., Sept. 6 8:30 - 11:45 a.m. Habitat for Humanity Build Volunteers will work with Habitat's construction staff to help get homes ready for move in.

10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Sunshine Division Spend time in the warehouse preparing boxes, sorting food and assisting with recycling efforts.

12:15 p.m. - 2:45 p.m. Habitat for Humanity Build Volunteers will help Habitat's construction staff get homes ready for move in.

1 - 3 p.m. Trillium Family Services Take part in restoring the community garden.

2 - 3:30 p.m. Doernbecher Children's Hospital Players will visit patients and hand out Timbers and Thorns blankets.

2 - 4:30 p.m. Adelante Mujeres Help setup the farmer's market in Forest Grove.

4 - 8 p.m. Adelante Mujeres Assist during the weekly farmer's market.

7:30 - 9 p.m. Adelante Mujeres Clean up the Forest Grove Farmer's market. Thurs., Sept. 7 9 - 11 a.m. Oregon Food Bank (Westside) Sort canned and boxed food donations, repack and label bulk food items in family-sized portions and sort produce.

9-11 a.m. Oregon Food Bank (Eastside Garden) - Community Garden Work on a seasonal garden project.

9 - 11 a.m. Oregon Food Bank (Eastside) Sort canned and boxed food donations, repack and label bulk food items in family-sized portions and sort produce.

9 a.m. - 12 p.m. Northeast Emergency Food Pantry Help serve clients with their shopping as part of the Northeast Emergency Food program. 1 - 3 p.m. Virginia Garcia Volunteer at the Free Food Market, setting up tables and food displays, repacking food into family-sized portions, helping with sign in and tracking participation and clean up.

1:30 - 4:30 p.m. Oregon Food Bank (Eastside) Sort canned and boxed food donations, repack and label bulk food items in family-sized portions and sort produce.

Fri., Sept. 8 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Children's Book Bank Volunteers will help spruce up community-donated books which will later be donated to low-income preschool children in the Portland area.
