Timbers' Powell Called up by Jamaica for Trinidad & Tobago Friendlies

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Timbers today announced that defender Alvas Powell has been called up by the Jamaica National Team for a series of home-and-away friendlies against Trinidad & Tobago on Nov. 15 and Nov. 19.

Jamaica will play host to Trinidad & Tobago on Friday, Nov. 15, at Catherine Hall Stadium at 5:30 p.m. (Pacific). The Reggae Boyz will then travel to Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago, to play the Soca Warriors on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at Hasley Crawford Stadium; kickoff is 5 p.m. (Pacific).

Powell, 19, has seven caps with Jamaica's senior national team since making his debut Dec. 10, 2012, during the 2012 Caribbean Cup. The St. Thomas, Jamaica, native played in five of the Reggae Boyz's final seven 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in 2013, making four starts. He recently appeared as a second-half sub for Jamaica in its final qualifier against Honduras on Oct. 15. Powell has also represented Jamaica at the U-17 and U-20 levels.
