
Timbers Fall to Austin FC at Q2 Stadium

AUSTIN, Texas. - The Portland Timbers fell to Austin FC tonight at Q2 Stadium 3-1 in their second match this week. Dairon Asprilla scored his fifth goal of the MLS regular season for the Timbers.
Asprilla Finds the Goal
Asprilla scored tonight's lone goal in the 55th minute when he received a ball from Diego Chara, dribbled towards the top of the box and shot from outside into the net. The goal was Asprilla's fifth of the season for the Timbers.
More Games on the Road
The Timbers continue their stretch of five consecutive road games, traveling to Seattle for a match against Seattle Sounders FC on Aug. 29. Portland began this stretch with a midweek game at Children's Mercy Park against Sporting Kansas City on Wednesday, earning a point on the road with a 1-1 draw on Aug. 18. Looking ahead, Portland will head back to Texas on Sept. 3 after taking on the Sounders to face the Houston Dynamo and finish out as the visiting team on Sept. 10 against Cascadia rival Vancouver Whitecaps at BC Place.

ATX - Cecilio Dominguez (penalty kick), 11th minute: Austin FC was awarded a penalty kick after the Timbers committed a foul just inside the box. Cecilio Dominguez converted the penalty kick.
ATX - Diego Fagundez (Nick Lima, Cecilio Dominguez), 14th minute: Dominguez shot a long ball from the right wing of the field into the box finding Fagundez who headed the ball into the net.
ATX - Sebastian Driussi (Diego Fagundez), 29th minute: Fagundez crossed a ball from the left corner of the box and into the middle to find Driussi who punched the ball into the goal.
POR - Dairon Asprilla (Diego Chara), 55th minute: Diego Chara stole a ball in the midfield and passed it to Asprilla, who turned and dribbled toward the box. Asprilla fired a shot from outside the box past Austin goalkeeper Brad Stuver into the net.

Dairon Aprilla scored his fifth goal of the regular season tonight.
Asprilla made his 14th start in 20 appearances for the Timbers this season.
Diego Chara recorded his first assist this regular season and 29th for the Timbers.
D.Chara has started in 14 of 15 games this season.
Sebastián Blanco made his 11th appearance this season.
Niezgoda Jaroslaw made his second appearance for the Timbers this regular season tonight.
Felipe Mora leads the team in goals this season (7) and Marvin Loría leads the Timbers in assists this season (5).
Yimmi Chara led the team tonight in shots on goal (3) and shots (4).
George Fochive led the team in tackles won with four tonight.
Fourteen different Timbers players have recorded at least one assist this regular season.
Asprilla, Josecarlos Van Rankin, and Diego Valeri are the only Timbers to appear in all 20 regular season matches in 2021.

Portland continues a five-game stretch on the road next week when they travel to Seattle to face the Sounders on Aug. 29 at Lumen Field. The match kicks off at 7:30 p.m. (Pacific) and will be nationally broadcasted on ESPN and ESPN Deportes with radio broadcasts on 750 The Game (English) and La GranD 1150AM/93.5 FM (Spanish).
