CHESTER, Pa. - The Portland Timbers conceded a pair of first-half goals, falling 3-0 on the road to the Philadelphia Union at Subaru Park on Sunday night. Following a break for international matches, the Timbers return to action, playing host to Sporting Kansas City on June 19 at Providence Park.
Goal-Scoring Plays
PHI: Kacper Przybylko (Kai Wagner), 26th minute: Wagner sent a long range free kick into the box, and Przybylko flicked a header into the back of the goal from on top of the six-yard box.
PHI: Sergio Santos (Kacper Przybylko, Kai Wagner), 31st minute: Wagner sent in a corner kick to the center of the box for Przybylko, who headed the ball toward the goal and Santos redirected it near the goal line into the back of the net.
PHI: Jack Elliott (Cory Burke), 63rd minute: Off a corner kick, Burke connected with a header at the edge of the six-yard box, forcing a save by Timbers goalkeeper Logan Ketterer, but Elliott pounced on the loose ball and finished from close range.
Notes
Diego Valeri made his 240th start in regular season play for the Timbers. Since his debut in 2013, only two players have more MLS games played with a single club (Andrew Farrell and Chris Wondolowski).
Sunday's loss marked Portland's first against the Philadelphia Union since 2015. The Timbers are 7-2-3 all-time against the Union.
Logan Ketterer's shutout streak came to an end after 206 minutes without conceding a goal to start his MLS career.
