
Tim Filangieri Returns; Gladiators Add Ryan Garbutt

The Gwinnett Gladiators have agreed to terms with defenseman Tim Filangieri forward Ryan Garbutt for the 2010-2011 season.
Filangieri earned three points, all assists, last year in his rookie campaign with Gwinnett. He also had 55 penalty minutes in 49 games for the Gladiators. In addition, he had one assist in 10 games in the American Hockey League with Chicago last year and was scoreless in one appearance with AHL Syracuse.
The Islip Terrace, New York, native joined AHL Syracuse following his senior season at Boston College in 2008-09 and played in one game for the Crunch. During his four year collegiate career, Filangieri earned 20 points (three goals, 17 assists) in 157 career collegiate games.
Garbutt enters his first season in the ECHL this year after he played with Corpus Christi in the Central Hockey League last year. The Winnipeg, Manitoba, native earned 50 points (22 goals, 28 assists) in 64 games. He also appeared in one playoff game with Corpus Christi last year.
Prior to turning pro, the 6-foot-1, 190-pound forward played four seasons at Brown University and collected 58 points (29 goals, 29 assists) in 116 career collegiate games.
Garbutt also skated in the Atlanta Thrashers Prospect Development Camp from July 8th thru 13th at the Ice Forum in Duluth.
The Gwinnett Gladiators open the 2010-11 season on the road before returning home to host the South Carolina Stingrays on Friday, October 22nd at 7:35 p.m. The Gladiators are the AA affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
