Tim Alberts named Batter of the Week

AMARILLO, TX - Pointstreak, the official statistician of the American Association of Independent Baseball, has named Amarillo Sox outfielder Tim Alberts the Batter of the Week for the week of May 28-June 3.

Alberts leads the league in batting with a .438 avg, is tied for third in the league with four homeruns and is in the top ten of the league with 14 RBI. Additionally, the Syracuse, New York native leads the league in hits, total bases, triples, extra base hits and on-base percentage.

The 25 year-old right-hander had his best game of the season against the Kansas City T-Bones on June 1. The 6-3, 210 lbs outfielder went 5-5 with two homers and six RBI in the 10-7 victory.

He is also riding a 13-game hitting streak where he is hitting .500 during that span.

Alberts is the second consecutive Sox batter to be named Batter of the Week, following Matt Tucker.

Monday, the 8-8 Sox will take on the 3-13 El Paso Diablos for the first game of the three-game set at 7:05pm with the Aqua One Pre-Game Show set to begin at 6:50pm. The game can be heard by visiting AmarilloSox.com via Ustream. Game time is tentative and is subject to blackout.
