Medicine Hat Tigers News Release

The Medicine Hat Tigers fell 4-3 in overtime to the Brandon Wheat Kings in game 6 of the Eastern Conference Quarter Final.

Wheat Kings forward Linden McCorrister scored the game tying goal in the third period to force overtime before scoring the game winning goal.

Tigers Captain Mark Rassell scored a hat trick while netminder Jordan Hollett made 42 saves on 46 shots.

David Quenneville fed Rassell the puck who then split the Wheat Kings' defencemen and beat goaltender Dylan Myskiw to get the Tigers on the scoreboard early in the first period.

Wheat Kings came alive in the second half of the period with a few offensive chances but Hollett stood tall for the Tigers making key saves and pouncing on rebounds.

Late in the frame, when there was mass confusion in front of the Tabbies' net, Quenneville made the save to stop the goal and the play. The Orange and Black went to the dressing room leading 1-0 after 20 minutes of play.

The play was coast to coast for the first part of the middle frame before Rassell buried a rebound to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead. Hayden Ostir and Jaeger White picked up the assists on Rassell's 7th goal of the series.

Shortly after, Stelio Mattheos scored to get the Wheat Kings on the board before Evan Weinger netted the game tying goal.

Thirty-four seconds into the final stanza and Rassell shot the puck in Myskiw's five hole to earn a natural hat trick. Ryan Chyzowski and Quenneville assisted on the play.

McCorrister scored the game tying goal midway through the period and the game winning goal midway through over time.

Myskiw turned aside 52 of the Tigers'55 shots.

The Medicine Hat Tigers' awrds banquet will be later this week.
