Tiger-Cats Select Six Players in 2022 CFL Draft

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats made six selections in the 2022 Canadian Football League Draft on Tuesday night, including defensive lineman Anthony Federico (pictured) who was chosen in the second round, 17th overall. The Tiger-Cats traded their first-round pick to the Edmonton Elks on eve of draft night.

Federico, 24, played three seasons (2017-22) at Queens' University. The 6-4, 240-pound defensive linemen played 23 career games for the Golden Gaels, registering 87 total tackles, 34.5 tackles for loss, 20.5 sacks and one pass breakup. Federico was invited to play in the University of Buffalo's NFL Pro Day in 2022.

Smith, 22, played three seasons (2018-22) at the University of Guelph. The 6-2, 190-pound receiver played 25 games for the Gryphons recording 50 receptions for 612 yards and five receiving touchdowns. The native of Scarborough, Ontario also recorded 45 kick returns for 822 yards, 112 punt returns for 1,065 yards and one touchdown.

Beeksma, 24, played four seasons (2017-22) at the University of Guelph. The 6-2, 215-pound linebacker played 39 games recording 77 solo tackles, three sacks, one fumble recovery, three interceptions and six pass breakups.

Pierre, 25, is a 6-1, 190-pound defensive back who played four seasons (2017-22) at Concordia University. During his time with the Stingers, the native of Ottawa, Ontario earned RSEQ Rookie of the Year honours in 2017, as well as being named an RSEQ All-Star and U-Sports All Canadian in 2017.

Guay, 25, played four seasons (2018-22) at Laval University as an offensive lineman. The 6-2, 300-pound native of Quebec City, Quebec, earned U-Sports Offensive First Team All-Star and RSEQ Offensive All-Star Team honours in 2021.

Ciraolo-Brown, 22, played three seasons (2018-22) at the University of British Columbia. The 6-0, 200-pound linebacker played 17 games registering 77 total tackles, one forced fumble, four interceptions and four pass breakups. Prior to joining the Thunderbirds, the Hamilton, Ontario native played for Cathedral High School.
