NORFOLK, VA -- Angel Pagan went 3-for-5 with a single, double and a triple, leading the Tides 12-hit attack as they cruised past the Richmond Braves 9-1 Tuesday night at Harbor Park.
Pagan singled in the first inning, tripled in the third inning, and doubled in the seventh inning. In addition to his three hits, Pagan also scored two runs and stole a base.
Jeff Keppinger, Victor Diaz, and Benji Gil also had multiple hits for the Tides (22-18), who improved to 12-5 at Harbor Park this season. Ron Calloway also had a two-run home run to help pace the Tides offensive attack.
Mike Matthews pitched very well to start the game for Norfolk, allowing just two hits in 3.1 innings of work. He was relieved in the fourth inning by Jose Santiago (3-3), who earned the win after hurling 3.2 shutout innings. Santiago allowed just one hit and struck out one.
Dan Curtis (2-3) took the loss for Richmond, allwing six runs on seven hits in 3.2 innings of work.
The Tides and R-Braves square off again on Wednesday night at Harbor Park. First pitch is slated for 7:15 pm.
