Norfolk Tides News Release

August 29, 2008 - The Richmond Braves jumped out to an early lead and cruised to a 7-2 win over the Tides in front of 11,136 fans at Harbor Park Friday night.

The Braves opened the scoring in the second inning, as they plated three runs off of Norfolk starter Andy Mitchell (12-8). With the bases loaded and two out, Brent Lillibridge lined a single to center field, and the ball squirted under the glove of Luis Terrero, clearing the bases and putting the Braves up 3-0.

Richmond tacked on two more runs off of Mitchell in the fourth inning, and a Corky Miller two-run homer off of Jon Leicester in the 5th frame gave the Braves a 7-0 advantage.

Luis Hernandez got the Tides on the board with an RBI double in the fifth inning, and Luis Terrero picked up his team-leading 88th RBI an inning later with a sacrifice fly that pulled the Tides within 7-2.

Chris Roberson and Mike Costanzo each had two hits to help pace Norfolk, which committed four errors in the contest.

Norfolk will wrap up the home portion of its schedule on Saturday night, with first pitch slated for 7:15. Craig Anderson (7-8, 6.17) will look to earn his sixth straight win for the Tides against Richmond right-hander Matt DeSalvo (2-11, 4.53).

There will also be a postgame fireworks extravaganza, presented by the Hampton Roads Dodge dealers.
