Ticats Sign Three Canadians

Hamilton, Ontario – The Hamilton Tiger-Cats Football Club announced today that the team has signed three non-import players. Defensive back Conor Healey, offensive lineman Anthony Mason, and defensive tackle Gonzalo Segovia have all signed one year (plus an option) contracts with the Ticats and will attend training camp next month.

Healey, selected in the fourth round (27th overall) of the 2004 CFL Canadian College Draft by the Tiger-Cats, played three seasons at Wilfrid Laurier University. Last season, Healey attended the Ticats' training camp before returning to Laurier for his third year of CIS eligibility, where he earned CIS second team All-Canadian and an OUA second team All-Star honours.

Mason, the Tiger-Cats fifth round (36th overall) selection in the 2004 Canadian College Draft, attended Hamilton's training camp before heading back to Guelph for his final season of CIS eligibility. The 6'3, 280-pound offensive lineman started at both tackle and centre in 33 career games during his five seasons with the Gryphons. Mason was named the Gryphons' Outstanding Lineman of the Year and was selected to play for Team East at the East-West Bowl in 2003.

Segovia, a 6'2, 280-pound defensive tackle, played one game for the Ticats last season versus Ottawa on October 30, recording three tackles. Prior to signing with the Tiger-Cats as a free-agent on October 27th, 2004, he attended attended Eastern Illinois University where he made 107 tackles in 34 games. Following his college career, Segovia was selected in the fifth round (38th overall) of the 2002 Canadian College Draft by the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
