Hamilton Tiger-Cats News Release

Hamilton, Ontario - The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced today that they have signed import running back Anthony Davis to a one-year (plus an option) contract.

"Anthony has all of the qualities you look for in a good running back," said GM Rob Katz. "He had a fantastic collegiate career at Wisconsin and we think his speed and style of play are well suited to the CFL game."

The 5-7, 200 pound Plainfield, New Jersey native joins the Ticats after spending part of last season with the Indianapolis Colts of the NFL. After being drafted in the seventh round, Davis played in four pre-season games and recorded eight carries for 13 yards and two catches for seven yards

Davis spent his four-year collegiate career with the University of Wisconsin Badgers. In the 40 games he played with the team, including 38 games as a starter, he had 908 carries (second-most in school history) for 4,676 yards rushing (5.15 yards per carry and 116.9 yards per game) and 42 touchdowns (third-most in school history). His 42 touchdowns rank him as the fifth-leading rusher in Big Ten history and second in school history behind Heisman Trophy winner Ron Dayne. He also caught 22 passes for 198 yards (nine yard per catch average) and recorded over 200 yards rushing in five games.
