Thursday's Cardinals Game Cancelled Due to Inclement Weather
August 16, 2018 - Texas League (TL1)
Springfield Cardinals News Release
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Thursday's game between the Springfield Cardinals and San Antonio Missions at Hammons Field has been cancelled due to inclement weather conditions.
Thursday's game will not be made up with this being the final scheduled game this season between the Cardinals and Missions.
Tickets from Thursday's rained out game against the San Antonio Missions may be exchanged for any remaining Regular Season game during the 2018 season, subject to availability. Tickets must be mailed or presented in person to the Springfield Cardinals Ticket Office, located at Gate 1 at Hammons Field, anytime during the remainder of the 2018 season. The Ticket Office at Hammons Field will be open starting at 9:00am on Friday, August 17 to begin accommodating ticket exchanges. Complimentary tickets are not exchangeable.
So, what happened in the game that didn't count?
With Thursday's game not reaching the five full innings required for an official game, nothing that happened in the 3.2 innings played will count.
That means Evan Kruczynski didn't throw four full innings, allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out four.
It also means the Springfield Cardinals never trailed 3-0 in the first inning and never cut that deficit to 3-2 with a Johan Mieses homer and Jose Martinez single.
Additionally, the Missions extending their lead to 4-2 before the delay began at 8:19pm also never happened and will be stricken from the record books.
The cancellation makes last night's 8-3 Missions win the final game ever played between San Antonio and Springfield with the Missions jumping to the Triple-A Pacific Coast League in 2019.
UP NEXT
The Cardinals open a three-game series with the Corpus Christi Hooks at 7:10pm Friday with gates set to open at 6:10pm.
