Evansville Thunderbolts try to slow down the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs

The Thunderbolts took on the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs for the second consecutive night at the Berglund Center, looking to avenge a 6-2 defeat the night prior. The Bolts' power play would reignite with two power play goals, however it would not be enough as the Bolts would gain only one point in a 4-3 overtime loss.
The Thunderbolts gained the first lead of the night in the second period, as Pijus Rulevicius scored on a breakaway fresh out of the penalty box to give Evansville a 1-0 lead, 5:34 into the second period from Beau Walker and Frank Schumacher. Roanoke would tie the game at 1-1 from Jeff Jones on the power play at 8:40. Evansville would pull ahead once again on the power play, off a slap shot by Brandon Lubin, from Shayne Morrissey and John Schiavo, to give Evansville a 2-1 lead. Roanoke, however, would tie the game again from Steve Mele at the 18:55 mark. The Bolts would lead again in the third, with another power play for Nick D'Avolio, from Ben Owen and Schumacher at 7:17 of the third period. Roanoke would tie the game again at 11:13 with a power play goal from Dillan Fox, forcing overtime. In overtime, Jordan Carvalho would win the game on a rebound, 4-3, 2:49 into overtime.
For Evansville, Rulevicius, Lubin, and D'Avolio finished with a goal each, while Schumacher finished with two assists. Ed Minney made 24 saves in net.
The Thunderbolts return home on Friday, November 16th to take on the Peoria Rivermen. It will be an 812 night, with special merchandise items priced at 8, 1, and 2 dollars each.
