
ThunderBolts Denied Sweep in Loss to Evansville

CRESTWOOD, IL - A six-run second inning fueled the Evansville Otters to a 7-0 victory over the Windy City ThunderBolts Thursday evening at Ozinga Field.
Otters (41-33) starting pitcher Tim Holdgrafer (8-4) earned the win, tossing eight shutout innings, giving up six hits and striking out ten in the victory.
The Otters opened the scoring with a home run from Noah Meyers off the scoreboard in right field to lead off the ball game.
The top of the second was all Evansville. Kona Quiggle tripled to right-center putting the Otters ahead 2-0. After a sacrifice fly from Josh Broughton, Myers singled to left field, increasing the Otters lead to 4-0.
With two men on, Ethan Skender homered to deep left field putting Evansville on top 7-0, completing a six run second inning.
Otters third baseman Jomar Reyes went 2-for-4. Myers also had a multi-hit game, going 2-for-5 with two RBIs.
Orland Park, IL native RHP Kevin Davis came on in relief for Evansville in the ninth inning to record the final three outs for the Otters.
The ThunderBolts (32-42) scored no runs on six hits with one error. Paul Coumoulos and Dan Robinson each had two of the Bolts six hits.
Bolts starter Taylor Sugg (4-6) received the loss, tossing five innings and giving up seven runs on nine hits. Aaron Husson, Justin Miller, and Sebastian Selway tossed four shutout innings coming out of the Bolts bullpen.
Friday the Bolts will be in Schaumburg for their first of a three-game set against the Schaumburg Boomers at Wintrust Field. First pitch set for 6:35 CDT. Right Hander Cole Bellair (2-8, 7.74 ERA) will be on the mound for the Bolts. Luis Perez (4-4, 4.39) will take the mound for the Boomers. The broadcast can be found at wcthunderbolts.com.
