ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., March 8th, 2009 - In spite of a triple-double from guard Will Conroy, the Albuquerque Thunderbirds were defeated by the Colorado 14ers 113-108, Sunday afternoon at Tingley Coliseum. Conroy led the T-birds with 35 points, 11 boards and 10 assists.

Colorado's Sonny Weems led the 14ers to their 23rd win with 30 points, six rebounds, six assists and a steal. Josh Davis added 27 points and grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds.

With 48 seconds left to play, Colorado's Davis provided the go-ahead basket for two. The 14ers would then pull further ahead with the help of Dominique Coleman, who scored four of his sixteen points in the last 35 seconds of play. Coleman, Kentrell Gransberry and John Lucas combined for 39 points, 16 rebounds and 12 assists while helping Colorado obtain its 10th win on the road.

Giving a spark off the bench for the Thunderbirds was recent acquisition Antoine Agudio. "I felt the need to step up, play aggressive and help Will (Conroy) carry the team," said the former Hofstra Pride. Agudio finished the game with 26 points, six boards and three steals.

Jasper Johnson nabbed his 14th double-double this season with 14 points and 11 rebounds while Antonio Meeking chipped in 18 points, nine rebounds and a steal in the T-birds' losing effort.

On Tuesday, March 10th the T-birds will host the Iowa Energy, now 21-13, 11 a.m. at Tingley Coliseum. The Energy, like the Thunderbirds have lost two straight games and are looking to rebound from both of their losses.
