WEEK IN REVIEW - Wichita took on the South Carolina Stingrays for the first-time ever this weekend and followed that up with a Sunday Valentine's date at Tulsa. The Thunder fell to the Stingrays in both games, losing 5-1 on Friday night and 4-1 on Saturday. Tulsa's Adam Pleskach gave the Oilers a 1-0 lead late in the second period, but Erick Lizon tied the game with his second goal of the season. The Oilers ended up with the extra point, getting the overtime winner from Axel Blomqvist just two minutes into the extra frame.
OZ - Landon Oslanski has helped the Thunder power play since coming over from Alaska. He added another on Friday night. All seven of his goals with Wichita have come on the man advantage. He is tied for third in the league with nine power play markers.
SIN BIN - Saturday's contest against the Stingrays turned into a chippy, penalty-filled battle between the two teams. Wichita finished with 71 penalty minutes while South Carolina had 59. The combined minutes was the most between the Thunder and its opponent this season (130), with 74 of that coming in the third period.
CLOSE CALLS - Wichita and Tulsa have played some tight games this season. In fact, five of the last six have gone past regulation, including last night's overtime loss. Wichita is 3-3-1-3 against the Oilers this season.
400 - Wichita begins a four-game home-stand tomorrow night. The Thunder plays seven total games at INTRUST Bank Arena during the month of February. Wichita needs one more win to reach 400 all-time home victories. The Thunder are 6-13-2-3 at home this year and 399-274-69 all-time.
