LAST WEEK'S GAMES -

Tuesday, February 25th

Arizona at Wichita, 4-3 W (SO)

-Wichita fought back from a two-goal deficit to pull out a 4-3 shootout win. Jon Booras and Jared Walker scored two minutes apart late in the second period to even the contest and Tomas Klempa recorded the game-winner in round six of the shootout for the victory.

Friday, February 28th

Tulsa at Wichita, 3-0 L

-Tulsa jumped out to an early lead when Ryan Menei was awarded a penalty shot and he converted in the fist period. The Oilers added to it in the second on a Ben Gordon tally. Down the stretch, Shane Madolora and the Oilers were too tough and shutout the Thunder for the fourth time this season by the final score of 3-0.

Saturday, March 1st

Wichita at Missouri, 4-3 L

-RG Flath and Tomas Klempa scored in the first five minutes to help propel the Thunder to a 2-0 lead. Tyler Currier scored his first of the season to cut into the lead. His goal started a run of four unanswered, giving the Mavericks a 4-2 edge late in the contest. Andrew Martens got the Thunder within one, but it was too late as the home team held on for the 4-3 win.

Sunday, March 2nd

Arizona at Wichita, 3-1 L

-After a scoreless first period, Arizona got on the board two minutes into the second. Nick McParland tied the game just over a minute later. Kevin Baker recorded the next two including the game-winner with 35 seconds left in the second frame as the Sundogs claimed a 3-1 victory.

THREE DOWN, EIGHT LEFT - Wichita went 1-2-0 this week against the Sundogs and the Oilers this week. The Thunder will not see Arizona until the final week of the season, but will face Tulsa five out of six times starting Friday, March 14th. Outside those two opponents, Wichita will face Rapid City twice in back-to-back meetings six days apart. The Thunder also has two contests left against the Allen Americans.

40 CLUB - Andrew Martens recorded his ninth goal of the season and 40th in a Thunder uniform Saturday night. He is nine goals shy of moving into second place past Daniel Tetrault for goals scored by a Thunder blue liner. He is also five points shy of tying Sean O'Reilly in second place all-time with 169 points for a Thunder defenseman. Martens leads all defenseman in the league with 42 points (9g, 33a).

20, 70 - RG Flath recorded his 20th goal of the season on Saturday. Since coming to Wichita in 2011-12, he has reached the 20-goal mark each year and now has 70 in his Thunder career. With one more, he would pull into a three-way tie with Paul Jackson and Cory Dosdall in ninth place all-time.

PENALTY SHOT - Tomas Klempa notched his first penalty shot goal of his career in the first three minutes of Saturday's game. Wichita is two-for-three in penalty shots this season as Ian Lowe was successful on December 27th at Tulsa. It was the second game in a row that a penalty shot was awarded for or against Wichita. It was also the first penalty shot of the season that did not take place between Wichita and Tulsa.

RECORD BOOK - Wichita set a new franchise record on Tuesday night with its six-straight shootout win against Arizona. The Thunder improved to 6-1 in shootout situations with its only loss coming on October 19th vs. Allen. The shootout win was also the Thunder's first at home this season as the previous five were on the road.

COME-BACK - The Thunder earned its fourth come-from-behind win of the season when trailing by two or more goals on Tuesday. Jared Walker and Jon Booras scored under three minutes apart to tie the game in the second. Three out-of-the four wins for Wichita when trailing by two have ended in a shootout.

THUNDERBOLTS... Dustin Donaghy has played in all 54 games this season...Booras is tied for 10th in the league with 55 points, tied for eighth in assists (39) and tied for 10th in power play goals (7)...Nick McParland is 11th in rookie scoring with 20 points (6g, 14a)...Dudas is tied for seventh in power play goals (8)...Martens is fifth in power play assists (19)...Wichita is second in shots allowed per game (29.43)...Wichita is averaging 14.56 PIM per game, which is the lowest in the league...Wichita is 9-6-0 when leading after one...Wichita is 7-9-2 when tied after two...

Wichita finishes a busy stretch of four games in five nights on Tuesday evening in Rapid City against the Rush at 8:05 p.m. The Thunder return back home and will have off until Sunday, March 9th when Rapid City comes to town to close out the regular-season series at 5:05 p.m.
