Wichita Thunder News Release

WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Thunder acquired defenseman Jason Goulet in a trade with the Quad City Mallards on Wednesday.

Goulet (pronounced goo-LAY) was a physical force for the Mallards last season, finishing third among IHL defensemen with 212 PIM in 73 games. The 6-foot-5, 245-pound Goulet's 22 fighting majors ranked second among defensemen, and tied for fifth overall.

The eighth-year professional enters his third tour inside the CHL. Goulet collected 165 PIM in just 52 games for the Rapid City Rush in 2008-09 and finished the year fifth among CHL blue liners with 17 fighting majors. A native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Goulet also spent two years with former rival Oklahoma City, leading all CHL defensemen from 2004-2006 with 43 fighting majors. The 27-year old spent two seasons in the ECHL from 2006-2008, racking up 329 more PIM in 119 games for Pensacola, Cincinnati, Dayton, and Bakersfield. Goulet played in eight games for the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers in 2006-07.

Reese scored 13 points in 31 games for the Thunder while Campbell notched eight points in 17 contests. Both Reese and Campbell joined the Thunder last year in mid-season trades.

Goulet gives the Thunder 15 players under contract for the 2010-11 season. The Thunder plans to make a major player announcement on Friday.
