
Thunder Matt Robinson Named ECHL Player Of The Week

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, the proud ECHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League and Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League, announced in conjunction with the ECHL that left wing Matt Robinson has been named Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for Dec. 7-13.
The honor is the first in Robinson's career and the first this season for a Thunder player.

Robinson, 24, had four goals, including a game-winning goal and two power-play goals, and five points in the Thunder's three-game sweep at Alaska, who became just the second team in seven seasons (Las Vegas, 2006-07) to beat the Aces in all three games of a regular season series at Sullivan Arena.
Signed by the Thunder as a free agent on Dec. 2, he had back-to-back two-goal games to help the Thunder win 6-4 on Dec. 11 and 5-4 on Dec. 12. It is the second time Robinson has scored multiple goals in consecutive games as he had two goals for Alaska against Utah on Feb. 1 and 2, 2008. He closed out the weekend with an assist in Stockton's 4-3 win on Dec. 13 to extend his point streak to six games (7g-3a).
The South Surrey, British Columbia native has seven points (6g-1a) in five games for Stockton after beginning the season with Johnstown where he had nine points (3g-6a) in 12 games.
Robinson played for Alaska his first two seasons and had 71 points (40g-31a) in 117 regular season games and six points (3g-3a) in 23 Kelly Cup Playoff games. He played for Johnstown in 2008-09 and had nine points (3g-6a) in 14 games before suffering a season-ending injury.
On behalf of Matt Robinson, a case of pucks will be donated to a Stockton youth hockey organization by Sher-wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-wood Hockey has donated more than 23,100 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
The Thunder returns to play for the seven-game road trip on Wednesday, Dec. 16 at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre to face the Victoria Salmon Kings at 7:05 p.m. The game can be heard on radio at 1420 KSTN and viewed online at www.stocktonthunder.com, courtesy of B2 Networks (audio is free of charge).
