Charlotte's Munce Named Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender Of The Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Ryan Munce of the Charlotte Checkers is the Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Dec. 7-13.

The 24 year old went 2-0-0 with a shutout to help Charlotte improve to 14-7-3 and second place in the South Division. Munce surrendered only one goal in 80 shots for a goals-against average of 0.50 and a save percentage of.988.

Munce, who leads the Checkers with five wins, earned his first shutout of the season by blocking all 47 shots in a 3-0 win at Florida on Dec. 12 after making 32 saves in a 4-1 win against the Everblades on Dec. 11. He is 3-0-0 with a goals-against average of 0.45 in his last three games to improve to 5-2-0 overall.

The Mississauga, Ontario native has played five seasons in the ECHL and is 89-69-15 with seven shutouts, a goals-against average of 2.92 and a save percentage of.916 in 185 regular season games with Bakersfield, Charlotte, Johnstown, Mississippi and Reading. He is 6-9 with a goals-against average of 3.56 and a save percentage of.894 in 16 Kelly Cup Playoff games with Bakersfield, Johnstown and Mississippi.

Drafted in the third round (82nd overall) by Los Angeles in the 2003 National Hockey League Entry Draft and under contract to Hartford of the American Hockey League, Munce has also played 13 games in the AHL for Norfolk and Syracuse.
