Wichita Thunder News Release

WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Thunder will put their 4-0 record on the line tonight as they take on the Mudbugs in Bossier City, Louisiana.

The only undefeated team in the CHL, the Thunder will be looking to avenge last season's playoff loss to Bossier-Shreveport in the Northern Conference Finals. Ironically, it was the Mudbugs who handed the Thunder both their first and last loss of the 2003-04 season.

A win tonight would give the Thunder their best start ever to open a season. Wichita has already won their first two road contests for the first time in franchise history.

The Thunder offense is led by veterans Jason Duda, Travis Clayton and Scott Allison, all of who are just one point off the CHL scoring lead, with nine points each. Defensively, the Thunder are allowing a CHL-low 1.50 goals per game and have allowed just two even-strength goals in four games. Second-year goaltender Jamie Vandespyker leads the CHL with a 3-0 record and has a stubborn .947 save percentage.

Tomorrow, the Thunder will welcome their hated rivals, the Oklahoma City Blazers and NHL star Brenden Morrow to the Kansas Coliseum for the first of eight meetings this season. Morrow, under contract with the Dallas Stars and a member of this summer's World Cup Gold Medal-winning Team Canada, has led the Blazers to a 2-0-1 record since joining the club. Morrow, who has compiled 204 points and 573 penalty minutes during his five-year Stars' career, is playing for Oklahoma City during the NHL lockout.

In other news, the weekly Thunder Coach's Show will air this and every Saturday at Noon on Cox Cable Channel 22 with special guests Chad Mazurak and Scott Allison. The Thunder Coach's Show is taped every Monday at 5:00 p.m. at BG Bolton's, 21st and Maize Road. Fans are welcome to attend.

Corporate packages and season tickets for the 2004-05 campaign are also still on sale. To order your tickets or for more information, call the Thunder office at 264-GOAL.
