Thunder Hobey Baker Nominee Defenseman Dan Ringwald Returned From Hartford

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers and San Jose Sharks, announced rookie defenseman Dan Ringwald has been loaned to the Thunder from the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League.

Ringwald, 24, will be available to make his Thunder debut when the team returns to play Friday, Nov. 5 against the Bakersfield Condors, beginning at 7:30 p.m. (1280 KWSX/StocktonThunder.com) at Stockton Arena.

The 6-foot-1, 205-pound defenseman completed a four-year (2006-10) college career last season for Rochester Institute of Technology (NCAA), leaving as the program's all-time leading scorer among defensemen (NCAA Division-I level) and the all-time program leader in assists.

A nominee last year for the Hobey Baker Award, presented annually to the top player in NCAA men's hockey, Ringwald captained RIT to their first ever appearance in the NCAA Frozen Four as a 2009-10 senior and a school record 28 wins, scoring a career-high 37 points (11g-26a) in 41 games which was third in the nation in scoring among defensemen.

He was the recipient of All-USCHO (United States College Hockey Online) second team honors, the Atlantic Hockey Association "Best Defenseman" award and AHA First Team honors (third straight season) last year.

The native of Oakville, Ontario finished with 21 goals and 125 points (21g-104) in 145 career games for the Tigers from the blueline. The Tigers finished 91-48-11 in Ringwald's four seasons at RIT, including a 77-26-9 mark in AHA conference play. He was a part of three AHA regular season championship squads.

He was signed to an AHL contract with Hartford on May 26, 2010 and made his professional debut with Greenville on Oct. 24 vs. South Carolina.

A two-time recipient of the ECHL "Award of Excellence," Thunder has led the ECHL in attendance for four seasons, has been voted "Best Local Sports Team" by readers of the San Joaquin Magazine for three straight years, and drew over 200,000 fans for the fifth consecutive season in 2009-10.
