MOLINE, Ill. - Matthew Spiller's two goals weren't enough as the Bloomington PrairieThunder suffered a 4-3 loss against the Quad City Mallards before 3,456 people Sunday at the i wireless Center in International Hockey League action.

The loss dropped the PrairieThunder record to 25-24-2-5 (57 points), while Quad City (22-27-4-6) moved within three points of Bloomington for the fourth and final postseason playoff berth.

Bloomington returns to action Wednesday with a 7:30 p.m. game at Fort Wayne. It marks the first of four games in five days on the road for the PrairieThunder.

Spiller scored the first goal just 4:26 into the game on a power play with assists to Jason Lepine and Craig Macdonald. Matt Cook tied the game two minutes later off assisats by Justin White and Chris Lipsett.

Brandon Marino gave the Mallards a 2-1 advantage five minutes into the second period on a power play goal with assists by Juris Stals and Tyler Kindle. But the PrairieThunder knotted the score with 9:59 to go in the period on a power play goal off assists by Billy Bagron and Jamie Carroll.

Kindle put Quad City ahead five minutes later on a power play goal with assists to Patrick Levesque and Lipsett. Spiller then added his second goal on a power play just 64 seconds into the third period with assists by Carroll and Lepine.

Stals scored the game-winning goal with 10:52 on assists by Kindle and Lipsett. The Mallards were outshot by Bloomington, 37-28. Both teams were 3 for 7 on the power play.

Sebastian Dahm took the loss in goal for Bloomington while stopping 24 of 28 shots. Jerad Kaufmann was the winning goalie with 34 saves on 37 shots.
