Lindberg And Bedard Earn IHL Weekly Awards

PORT HURON, MI - Two Port Huron Icehawks won weekly awards from the International Hockey League for the week ending Sunday, March 7th. Veteran center Nick Lindberg was named Player of the Week for the second time this season, while Mickael Bedard received Rookie of the Week honors for the second time.
Lindberg had a great week offensively, scoring a goal in all three games while adding four assists for a seven-point week. Friday night vs. first-place Muskegon, Lindberg exploded for four points on three assists and the game-winning goal in Port Huron's 7-4 victory.
The 29-year-old native of Stockholm, Sweden was previously named Player of the Week in week nine in mid-December, when the Icehawks swept the awards. Lindberg is third in points on the Icehawks this season, with 51 points on 12 goals and 39 assists.
Mickael Bedard took home the Rookie of the Week award with seven points of his own on three goals and four assists. Most of Bedard's scoring came in the weekend series with Muskegon, scoring two goals Friday and four assists Saturday.
The 22-year-old Montreal, Quebec native last won Rookie of the Week in week five back in mid-November, but has also won Player of the Week three times. Bedard was the IHL's Rookie of the Month in December and January. The left winger has held the points lead among rookies for the majority of the season, and is currently fourth among all IHL skaters with 62 points on an even split of 31 goals and 31 assists.
In other honors this week, Flint's Sergei Zvyagin was named Goaltender of the Week.

The Icehawks will host the Bloomington Prairie Thunder Friday for the first time since early November before hitting the road to take on Fort Wayne Saturday and Muskegon Sunday.
