Wichita Thunder News Release
WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Thunder announced today that they have teamed up with the Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission (GWASC) to help collect baseball equipment for "Operation Home Run".
The first 300 fans who bring new or used baseball equipment to the Thunder game on Friday, October 24th versus the New Mexico Scorpions will receive a free ticket to that night's game. Any baseball equipment is appreciated, however; there is an extra urgency for baseball gloves. All fans that make a donation will also be entered into a special drawing to win prizes from the Coleman Company and the Thunder.
All of the equipment collected through "Operation Home Run" will be donated to the United States Armed Forces for distribution to soldiers overseas. Iraqi kids, including girls, have been taken by watching the troops play so much, that America's favorite past time is now being taught to the Iraqi children. "Operation Home Run" will also have a table set up at next Friday's Thunder game to take donations and sell t-shirts.
The Thunder open their 12th CHL season tonight at 7:30 p.m. versus the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs. All fans in attendance will receive a Hockey 101 booklet, courtesy of PriVia Research Center. The Thunder also host the Tulsa Oilers tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m. All fans in attendance will receive a 2003-04 Thunder Magnetic Schedule, courtesy of Pizza Hut.
Individual tickets are on sale now, ranging from $9 to $16 each. Season tickets are also still on sale, starting as low as $198. For more information or to order tickets, call the Thunder office at 264-GOAL or visit our website at www.wichitathunder.com.
