Thunder Baseball Now Batting Online

WICHITA, KS- Thunder Baseball threw out their first pitch today, announcing that a temporary website for the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball's newest member is now up and running.

Fans can access www.wichitathunder.com/wtBaseball.html for the latest on the club, including information on season, group and individual ticket prices. Pending final approval by the Wichita City Council, Wichita Thunder owner Horn Chen and group of local investors will own and operate the city's seventh ever professional baseball team, when the yet-to-be-named franchise begins play in May. As part of the agreement the Thunder will also purchase or lease the National Baseball Congress (NBC) World Series from the City of Wichita.

On Friday, August 10th, Thunder Baseball will throw out their second pitch, launching a name-the-team-contest, in conjunction with the Wichita Eagle and KAKE-TV. The fan who comes up with the winning selection will receive a prize package from Thunder Baseball, the NBC and Wichita Thunder Hockey. Thunder Baseball will unveil their official nickname, as well as the contest winner on Monday, September 17th; the same day www.360wichita.com launches the official Thunder Baseball website.

Fans can begin making their plans for both the upcoming Thunder Baseball and Hockey seasons later this month. The American Association will release the 2008 schedule in late August, while the 2007-08 Central Hockey League (CHL) schedule is expected out next week. The Thunder will drop the puck on their 16th CHL season with a home game on Saturday, October 20th.
