
Thunder Assigned Goulet, Lerg From Springfield

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, the proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers and American Hockey League's Springfield Falcons, announced right wing Stephane Goulet (Stef-AWN GOO-lay) and rookie center Bryan Lerg have been assigned by the Oilers to the Thunder from Springfield.
Goulet, 22, has skated in 124 career games with the Thunder and AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins and Springfield Falcons, scoring 71 points (31g-40a) while notching 94 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound forward ranks fourth on the Thunder career scoring list with 54 points (21g-33a) in 81 games.
A seventh round selection (208th overall) of the Oilers in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Goulet scored 14 points (4g-10a) in 12 games last year for Stockton, added 14 points (9g-5a) in 36 games with Springfield and set a Thunder playoff record with five goals in six games, additionally tallying nine points (5g-4a).
Lerg, 22, was originally assigned to the Thunder from Springfield on Oct. 20 and has scored five points (2g-3a) in four ECHL games this year while adding one goal in three AHL games.
The 5-foot-10, 175-pound forward was signed by the Oilers as a free agent on Apr. 1, 2008. The Livonia, Mich. native previously played all four years (2004-08) of his college career with Michigan State University (NCAA), skating in 169 career games and scoring 128 points (68g-60a).
The Thunder return to play tonight against the Ontario Reign, the first all-time matchup between both teams which starts at 7:00 p.m. from Citizens Business Bank Arena.
