
Thunder Adds Three to Roster

WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Thunder made three additions to its roster on Friday, signing forwards Shane Foster and Garett Cameron, and defenseman Travis Wight.
Foster scored two goals and had three assists in eight games as a true rookie for the Thunder last season. The 6-foot-3, 227-pound right wing had 41 PIM for the Thunder and scored a Gordie Howe hat trick on January 22nd at Tulsa. The Madison, WI native had his season cut short in early-February due to injury. The 26-year old played in 14 games for the Colorado Eagles to begin the year after spending four seasons at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
Cameron rejoins the professional ranks for the first time since 2006-07 when he split time in the UHL with Bloomington and Port Huron, scoring 26 points in 42 games. The 28-year old left wing had a strong 2005-06 campaign in the ECHL with Utah where he scored 26 goals, 30 assists, and had 128 PIM in 72 games played. The Grandora, Saskatchewan native played for former rival Oklahoma City in 2004-05. In 172 career games, Cameron has 113 points and 269 PIM.
Wight heads into his fifth professional season and returns to the CHL after a brief stint with Mississippi early last year. The 28-year old played in 17 games for the RiverKings before traveling overseas to play with the Nijmegen Devils in the Netherlands where he had six assists in 18 games. A native of Fannystelle, Manitoba, Wight helped the ECHL's Idaho Steelheads to the 2007 Kelly Cup under former Thunder Head Coach Derek Laxdal. The left-handed shot played four years of college hockey at the University of Maine, scoring 17 points in 93 games from 2002-2006.
The trio gives the Thunder 20 players under contract for the 2010-11 season (detailed below) with training camp scheduled to begin Monday, October 4th at the Wichita Ice Center.

The Thunder opens the 2010-11 season on Friday, October 15th against the Tulsa Oilers at the BOK Center. The Thunder hosts Tulsa the following night at 7:05 p.m. at the INTRUST Bank Arena in their 2010 home opener. The Thunder also hosts the Oilers for an exhibition game on Friday, October 8th at the Wichita Ice Center. Tickets are just $10 General Admission and are on sale now.
