Trenton Thunder News Release

TRENTON, NJ - A new name to the ballpark, a sellout crowd of 6,720 and a walk-off win in 11 innings sealed a 6-5 Thunder victory in the 2013 home opener at newly minted ARM & HAMMER Park.

The Thunder kicked-off their first of 14 head-to-head meetings with the Richmond Flying Squirrels in 2013 with a dramatic victory in extra innings. Slade Heathcott tripled to the wall in left-center field with one out in the 11th inning to set the table for Ramon Flores' game-winning sacrifice fly.

Heathcott's triple was nearly caught on a dive by Richmond centerfielder Ryan Lollis, but his dive came up empty which allowed Trenton's centerfielder to collect his first triple of the season. Heathcott finished the game 3-for-5 with a walk, double, triple, 2 runs, 2 RBI and the first stolen base of the season for the Thunder.

Trenton led 5-1 entering the eighth inning, but three runs in the eighth and a two-out single by Richmond's Adam Duval in the ninth inning tied it up.

Zach Nuding (0-1, 0.93) made the start for the Thunder and earned the no-decision. He notched Trenton's first Quality Start of the season by throwing 6.0 innings and allowing just one run while striking out seven Flying Squirrels. He has now allowed one earned run in 9.2 total innings this season.

Trenton continues their seven-game homestand at ARM & HAMMER Park Friday at 7:05 p.m. LHP Francisco Rondon (1-0, 5.40) will start for the Thunder against RHP Justin Fitzgerald (0-0, 2.70) for the Flying Squirrels. Limited tickets are available through the Thunder box office at (609) 394-3300 or online at www.trentonthunder.com/tickets. Radio coverage on 91.3 FM (WTSR) and also streaming online begins at 6:45 p.m.
