SERIES FINALE SUSPENDED: The B-Mets and Erie played into the bottom of the fourth inning before rain suspended play in the series finale. At the time, Binghamton was leading 1-0 after Alonzo Harris singled home Daniel Muno in the top of the fourth. Cory Mazzoni faced the minimum through the first three innings, but had two runners on base when play was suspended in the fourth. This game will be picked up and completed on August 9th prior to the regularly scheduled game. The B-Mets have now had at least one suspended game in each of the previous six seasons.

LAST GAME: Although Binghamton got off to a good start, the offense stalled and the B-Mets lost to Erie 2-1 Tuesday night. In the first inning, Rhyne Hughes hit a double off the right field wall to score Richard Lucas and give the B-Mets a 1-0 lead. Unfortu-nately, that was the only run they would score all night. Erie starter Kyle Lobstein settled down, and finished the night throwing 5.2 innings, giving up five hits, and just that one run. Rafael Montero was good on the mound for the second consecutive time. He gave up one earned run and struck out seven in six innings of work. With the game tied in the bot-tom of the seventh, Marcus Lemon hit a sac fly off of John Church to give Erie the 2-1 lead. That was all the offense they needed, as Justin Souza shut down the B-Mets 1-2-3 in the ninth to earn the save. Binghamton had their chances, but couldn't cash in as they went 0-8 with RISP on the night.

BINGHAMTON STARTING PITCHER: RHP Logan Verrett takes the hill for the second time this season. In his first start, he earned a win against the Akron Aeros after pitching 6.0 innings and giving up three earned runs. He looks to start this season the same way he finished 2012 in St. Lucie. In the month of August, Verrett compiled a 1.95 ERA in five starts. He was selected by the Mets in the 3rd round of the 2011 draft out of Baylor University. Verrett was ranked the #26 prospect in the Mets organization by Baseball America prior to 2013.

NEW HAMPSHIRE STARTING PITCHER: RHP Deck McGuire will make his second start of 2013, his 33rd career start with New Hampshire. He lost his first start to Reading on 4/6, giving up four runs on six hits in 4.2 innings pitched. McGuire pitched in four games for the Fisher Cats in 2011, and then stayed there for all of 2012. He struggled last season, finishing 5-15 with a 5.88 ERA in 28 starts. He led the Eastern League in losses (15), home runs allowed (22), runs allowed (103), earned runs allowed (94), and posted the second-worst ERA (5.88) among qualifiers. Deck was drafted 11th overall by Toronto in the 2010 draft out of Georgia Tech.

COMING HOME: After hitting the road for the first week of the season, the B-Mets come back to the Southern Tier to play at NYSEG Stadium for the first time in 2013. In 2012, Binghamton went 33-37 at home, 5-5 against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.

PITCHERS SHOWING CONTROL: Binghamton pitch-ing has posted a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 48-to-13 so far in 2013. The 13 walks are the fewest given up by any pitching staff in the Eastern League. The starting rotation boasts a 34-to-5 strikeout-to-walk mark.

LOW SCORING AFFAIR: Through six games in 2013, Binghamton ranks last in the league in runs scored (22). Last night was the third time they have been held to two or fewer runs scored. On the other side however, Binghamton pitchers have the lowest earned run average in the league (3.29). They have been able to hold opponents to two or fewer runs on four occasions. The B-Mets also rank second in the league in WHIP (1.29).

NEXT GAME PREVIEW: The B-Mets continue their four-game series with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats tomorrow evening. RHP Tyler Pill will start for Binghamton, and the first pitch is scheduled for 6:35 PM.
