CLEARWATER, Fla. - Adonis Medina tossed seven strong innings and struck out six to lead the Clearwater Threshers over the Miracle, 5-1, on Thursday night at Spectrum Field.

After Mark Contreras singled with one out in the first inning, Medina (5-2) proceeded to retire the next 14 Miracle batters in a row. He allowed only an unearned run, three hits, and walked one. Felix Paulino pitched the final two innings for Clearwater, striking out four.

Clark Beeker (1-4) started for the Miracle and was sharp over his first two innings, throwing just 19 pitches. Control got the best of him in a 31-pitch third inning, however. The right-hander hit one and walked three in the frame, as Clearwater scored four runs on just two hits.

Beeker settled down to throw six innings, five of which were scoreless. Kevin Marnon followed with two shutout innings out of the Miracle bullpen.

Fort Myers tallied just four hits in the contest. Jimmy Kerrigan provided the lone extra base hit for the club, a two-out double in the eighth inning.

The Miracle travel to St. Lucie to open a weekend series on Friday night. First, they will continue a suspended game at 5:00 p.m. that is tied, 2-2, in the sixth inning. A nine-inning contest will follow.
