Madison Capitols News Release
Youngstown, OH - A late rally by the Madison Capitols (4-9-1-2) came up short as they lost 4-2 to the Youngstown Phantoms (7-8-0-2) on Friday night on the road. This is the first of a two game set on the weekend.
Chase Brand kicked the scoring off 12:26 into the first period on a shorthanded opportunity. An excellent effort by Josh Boyer while on the penalty kill put the puck into open ice where the speed of Brand got behind the defense for a breakaway goal.
Youngstown would go on to score three unanswered with a goal of period before Brand put a stop to it with his second of the contest. A misplay by Youngstown and the speedy Sam Miller fed Brand in front of the net where he flipped a backhander past the goaltender, Vinnie Purpura.
Despite the third period goal, the Capitols couldn't net the great equalizer before the Phantoms iced the game with 12 seconds remaining on an empty netter.
Joseph Lamoreaux (4-8-0-1) made 26 saves in the contest as the Capitols dropped the battle. Madison returns to action on Saturday when they close out their two game set against the Youngstown Phantoms in Ohio.
Madison's next home game will be Saturday, December 1st as they team up with Middleton Outreach Ministry to help fill the nets with canned goods.
Don't miss out on any of the action this season as the Capitols embark on their 5th season in the USHL. Ticket packages, suites, and group outing are available now at www.madcapshockey.com or by calling the front office at (608) 257-2277.
