Three Storm Players Receive USHL Player of Week Honors

Kearney, NE. - The United States Hockey League (USHL) announced today that three Tri-City Storm players have received Player of the Week honors for their performances during this weekend's games. Brendan Furry has been named the USHL Forward of the Week, Ronnie Attard has been named the USHL Defenseman of the Week, and Isaiah Saville has been named the USHL Goaltender of the Week. It is the first time during the 2018-2019 regular season that all three USHL Players of the Week have been from the same organization.

Brendan Furry, 20, of Toledo, Ohio was named the USHL Forward of the Week after scoring two goals and recording six assists in Tri-City's three game week against Waterloo and Omaha. Furry was on the ice for all three of the Storm's scoring plays in a 3-0 shutout of the Black Hawks on Friday. He recorded an assist on goals by Ronnie Attard and Zac Jones and scored a power play in the final four minutes of the 1st period. Furry backed up his Friday performance by scoring a goal and providing the Storm offense with three assists in Saturday's 5-2 home win over Waterloo. Furry assisted on Brendan Budy's shorthanded goal against Omaha in the Storm's 4-2 loss to Omaha. Furry currently leads the Storm with 12 goals on the season.

"I think this weekend our line came together for the first time with Brendan Budy coming back from college, Connor McMenamin coming back from injury, we hit a great point a started rolling. The team played well in the two wins over Waterloo, we'll move on from yesterday's loss in Omaha. We've got to stick to what we do during practice this week and get in the mindset that we have two big games coming up this weekend against Muskegon." Brendan Furry

Ronnie Attard, 19, of White Lake, Michigan was named the USHL Defenseman of the Week after scoring one goal and adding five assists to the Storm offense this weekend. Attard scored the game winning goal in the 1st period of Friday's win over Waterloo. Attard registered two assists in both games against Waterloo, and one assist in yesterday's road game in Omaha. He finished the week with a +5 rating and leads all Storm defenseman with 11 goals on the season. Attard previously announced a commitment to play college hockey at Western Michigan University.

Isaiah Saville, 18, of Anchorage, Alaska recorded his 4th career shutout on Friday, and stopped 42 shots on 44 in Saturday's win over Waterloo. Saville posted a 1.21 GAA and a .968% save percentage and recorded his 15th & 16th wins of the season in Tri-City's back to back defeats of the Waterloo Black Hawks. Through 21 games played in the 2018-2019 season, Saville is 16-2-1-1 with a 1.64 GAA and a save percentage of .939%. Saville leads all USHL goaltenders this season in both GAA and save percentage. Previously, Saville announced a commitment to play college hockey at the University of Nebraska Omaha.

We knew coming into the games that their power play had been dominant this season, so we focused a lot on the penalty kill and specialty teams played a big role in both games. This upcoming weekend will be one of the biggest for us all season, we've got a chance to prove ourselves as a top team in this league." Isaiah Saville

Tri-City returns home to the Viaero Center this weekend for two games against the Muskegon Lumberjacks. The two-game series against the Lumberjacks will showcase the top two teams in the USHL league standings. Tri-City enters Friday's game as the 1st place team in the Western Conference standings, holding a one-point advantage over Muskegon in the USHL league standings. Muskegon travels to Kearney for the two-game series as the 1st place team in the USHL's Eastern Conference. Puck drop for both games is set for 7:05pm.
