Florence, Ky. - With the game tied at 3-3 in the top of the sixth inning, Jared Mang drove a three-run home run to give the Washington Wild Things (48-25) a 6-3 lead. That score stood as the final score at Thomas More Stadium on Tuesday.

The Florence Y'alls (31-41) did not get a chance to bat in the bottom of the ninth due to heavy rains, which began to pour down right as the top of the inning ended. The weather forced an early end to the series opener.

Mang's three-run shot was the only crooked number on the board for either team. Florence and Washington traded singular runs until that point, with neither side leading by more than one. The Y'alls got an RBI double from Ethan Stern, a Ray Zuberer solo home run, and a Zuberer RBI single. Zuberer and Rodney Tennie finished with two hits each.

Nick Ward led off the game with a home run for the Wild Things, one of two allowed by Y'alls starter Edgar Martinez. In six innings pitched, Martinez allowed six earned runs, but recorded eight strikeouts. Bobby Brabrand and Joe Dougherty combined for a scoreless bullpen outing.

The game will be recorded as a final in eight innings, with stats from the top of the ninth not being counted. Nonetheless, it is a Washington victory and the Wild Things' sixth against the Y'alls this season.

Weather permitting, tomorrow's game features a pitching matchup of Florence's Jeremy Ovalle and Washington's Kobe Foster. First pitch is at 6:31 p.m.
