Lexington County Blowfish News Release
Morehead City, N.C. (July 16, 2015) -- Three separate rallies proved not enough for the Lexington County Blowfish who dropped a 7-5 decision to the Morehead City Marlins on Thursday night.

Morehead City had been held quiet after the fourth inning and into the eighth. Singles by Justin Wiegel and Aaron Wilson put Dominick Cammarata in a position to strike. He slung a two-run single into left field to take the lead for good.
The Blowfish trailed 1-0, 2-1 and 5-2 in this game, and found a way to tie it up all three times. A passed ball scored Keenan Innis (Georgia Tech) in the second inning to tie it at one, a two-base error scored Sly Edwards (Charleston Southern) in the third inning to draw to a 2-2 tie.
Then, after the Marlins took a 5-2 lead in part to a two-run home run by Logan Sherer and a groundout by Keyshawn D'Orso, the Blowfish would stage their final rally. J.D. Crowe's (Francis Marion) RBI triple in the fifth drew the Blowfish to within two.
Then, back-to-back singles from Danny Edgeworth (Mercer University) and Deric Boone (Southern Union State) knocked home Bennette Hill (Shelton State) and Trevor Bradley (USC-Aiken) to tie it up.
At one point, starter Trevor Hutto (USC-Aiken) shut the Marlins down completely. He retired 10 of the last 11 batters he faced in his six-inning outing. Hutto would strike out seven batters in total, and at one point, struck out four batters in a row.
The Blowfish had a chance to take the lead in the eighth inning. Jared Williams (University of South Carolina) knocked a hot shot to second base, where the ball was momentarily booted by Wilson. He would recover, and throw out Hill, who had tried to score from second, at the plate.
The Blowfish also stranded Crowe at second base with one out in the seventh inning. Relief pitcher Dean Loucha would force Connor Owings (Coastal Carolina) to fly out, and Innis to strike out, ending the inning right there.
Blowfish baseball returns to Lexington County Baseball Stadium on Friday night as the Fayetteville SwampDogs come to town. An Elvis Presley-themed fireworks show will follow the final out.
