Three Owlz Go Deep in 20-6 Romp of Chukars

Sherman Johnson, Michael Bolaski and Andrew Ray each hit a home run as the Owlz scored seven or more runs in two different innings to cruise past Idaho Falls in a 20-6 win on Monday evening.

The Owlz came into Monday's game, having scored 39 runs in their past four games. That offense continued in the series finale with Johnson, Bolaski and Wade Hinkle all picking up 4 RBIs. Johnson had a team-high four hits, two of which were a 2-run double and 2-run home run.

Joel Capote and Wendell Soto each continued their scorching play, cranking out three hits and scoring three runs apiece. Jonathan Walsh and Adrian Gutierrez each had two hits, with Walsh scoring two runs and Gutierrez knocking in three in his Owlz debut.

Orem scored two in the 1st on a fielder's choice and sacrifice fly, and exploded in the 2nd for eight runs off of Clayton Schulz. Soto led off the inning with a triple and came home on Ray's first home run of the season. Johnson doubled in both Gutierrez and Capote,and Gutierrez doubled in two later in the inning.

Seven runs came home in the 6th inning thanks to a 3-run double by Hinkle and a 2-run double by Bolaski. Sherman Johnson hit his first professional home run in the 7th inning off of Matt Strahm.

Jairo Diaz picked up the win, going five innings and surrendering two runs, one of which was earned. He evens his record up at 2-2.

Orem will have Tuesday off and will travel to Billings to begin a seven-game road trip. The first three games will be in Billings with Wednesday being a 7:05 first pitch. You can listen to the action at audio.oremowlz.com.
