Oklahoma City, Okla. â The Oklahoma City Blazers of the Central Hockey League signed forward Jamie Miller, centerman Mike Robinson and defenseman Greg Lasko, head coach Doug Sauter announced today.
Miller, a 6-1, 200-pound native of Regina, Sask. skated last season with the Jacksonville Barracudas of the WHA2, picking up 73 points (32-41-73) and serving 134 penalty minutes in 58 games. His 73 points led his team and ranked him sixth in the league, while his 32 goals tied him for fourth on the WHA2 circuit. Miller skated during his rookie season with Jacksonville, picking up 52 points (33-19-52) and serving 155 penalty minutes. Including a 10-game stint with the San Diego Gulls of the West Coast Hockey League, he has scored 128 points (65-63-128) and served 312 penalty minutes in 124 professional games.
Joining Miller on the 2004-05 Blazers' roster is first-year defenseman Greg Lasko. The 6-0, 185-pounder from Estevan, Sask. skated the last two seasons with the Weyburn Red Wings of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey Leauge. In 105 games, Lasko recorded 30 points (6-24-30) while serving 92 penalty minutes.
Robinson, a 5-9, 170-pounder from Biggar, Sask. recently completed a four-year stay at Providence College. "I'm pleased with these signings," said Sauter. "Miller has proven that he can be productive and he's not afraid to mix it up. The young Miller and Robinson are highly recommended and will each have something to offer our hockey club."
The addition of Miller, Lasko and Robinson brings the number of players signed by the Blazers for the 2004-05 season to nine. He joins goaltenders Boyd Ballard and Sean Connors, forward Michel Beausoleil as well as first-year players Ryan Haggarty, Joel Pullman and Scott Hosaluk.
The Blazers will begin play in the team's 13th season in the CHL in late October. The 60-game schedule will be released pending completion in early August.
