Three Lumberjacks Sign National Letters of Intent

MUSKEGON, Michigan (November 19th) - With the early national letter of intent signing period taking place, the Muskegon Lumberjacks are proud to announce that a trio of players in Connor Hurley (Notre Dame), Janik Moeser (Ohio State), and Matt Iacopelli (Western Michigan) have officially signed their national letters of intent making their respective college commitments official following their junior careers.

Connor Hurley, the Eagan, Minnesota native, will be attending the University of Notre Dame out of the Hockey East Association and was also drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the second-round (38th overall) during the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

"When I got offered a Notre Dame scholarship, there was no way that I was going to turn it down with all they have to offer in terms of academics and the hockey facilities," said Hurley. "The atmosphere (at Notre Dame) is unbelievable, and the coaching staff made me feel right at home."

Janik Moeser, the Mannheim, Germany native, will be attending the Ohio State University out of the Big Ten Conference and is currently on NHL Central Scouting's "Players to Watch" List in preparation for the 2014 NHL Entry Draft taking place June 27-28th in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Matt Iacopelli, the Woodhaven, Michigan native, will be attending Western Michigan University out of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) and currently leads the Lumberjacks in goals (12) and points (18) in his first full season with the team.

"Choosing Western Michigan to play my college hockey was a no-brainer in my mind due to the campus being so close to home, and the coaching staff is one of the best in the country," said Iacopelli. "The fact that my close friends and family can come watch me play (during the home games) is something that I am looking forward to."

The Lumberjacks will travel to Cedar Rapids to take on the RoughRiders this Friday night at 8:05 pm. The following night, the Lumberjacks return home to take the USNTDP Under-18 Team at 7:15 pm.

Saturday's game features Star Wars Night, where all of your favorite Star Wars characters will be in attendance. Also, numerous activities will be located throughout the concourse such as being able to battle a Storm Trooper and a photo booth. All proceeds will be donated towards the Muskegon Lumberjacks Charitable Foundation.

Additionally, our Subway Saturday promotion returns where if the Lumberjacks beat the Phantoms, fans can redeem their ticket stubs at any participating West Michigan Subway location for a buy one six-inch sub, get another six-inch sub of equal or lesser value for free.

Individual game tickets are on sale for the low price of $10 for adults and $6 for children ages 3-12 if they are purchased before the day of the game. Tickets can be purchased at the Lumberjacks' Box Office or by calling (231) 724-5225.
