Muskegon Lumberjacks News Release

NASHVILLE, TN - The Muskegon Lumberjacks had a trio of players selected in the 2023 National Hockey League Player Entry Draft. Gavin McCarthy, Ty Henricks, and David Klee all heard their names called on Thursday afternoon.

Gavin McCarthy, 3rd round, 86th overall - Buffalo Sabres

The Upstate New York native was selected by his hometown team with the 22nd pick of the 3rd round. The former Buffalo Jr. Sabres youth hockey player spent two seasons in Muskegon amounting 40 points in 95 career games. Before heading to Buffalo to join the Sabres McCarthy will play NCAA Division I college hockey at Boston University where he will join former Lumberjacks forward Quinn Hutson.

Ty Henricks, 6th round, 183rd overall - New York Rangers

The second Lumberjack to be selected, and the second Jack to be selected by a team that calls the Empire State home the New York Rangers used the 23rd pick in the 6th round to select Ty Henricks. A mid-season pick-up for the Jacks Henricks is a force to be reckoned with on the ice standing 6'5 and weighing in north of 200 pounds. The future Ranger reported to the Lumberjacks Main Camp earlier this month and is committed to playing NCAA Division I college hockey at nearby Western Michigan University.

David Klee, 7th round, 196 overall - San Jose Sharks

Another trade acquisition by the Lumberjacks David Klee was added to the team during this offseason but is already garnering attention from Jacks fans with a strong performance at main Camp, and now a selection in the draft by the San Jose Sharks. Similar to Henricks Klee has a big frame at 6'3 and patrols the middle of the ice contributing at both ends. Klee will play his college hockey along with other current Lumberjacks Sacha Boisvert, and Cody Croal at the University of North Dakota.
