
Three imports added to Lions defensive line

Vancouver) The BC Lions Football Club officially announced today that import defensive linemen Gary Butler, Xavier Mitchell and Jonathan Williams have signed with the team.
Butler appeared in 43 games over four years at California (PA) ('04-'07). He registered 69 tackles, 12 sacks, and four forced fumbles in his senior season earning PSAC West Defensive Player of the Year honors as he helped the Vulcans to a 13-1 record.
Mitchell appeared in 47 games over four years at Tennessee ('04-'07) and started in 25 games. He notched a total of 108 tackles, 18 tackles for a loss, and 8.5 sacks. He also recorded an interception as senior in 2007.
Williams played in 25 games over two seasons at South Carolina after transferring from Mississippi Delta CC. He was in on 20 tackles and added two tackles for a loss as well as two sacks for the Gamecocks. While at Mississippi Delta, Jonathan was a two-year starter for the Trojans and earned a First Team All-State selection in the Mississippi junior college ranks in 2006. Williams was a college teammate of current Lions offensive lineman Justin Sorensen last season.
