Williamsport Crosscutters News Release

Williamsport, Pa - Adam Leverett, Junior Tejada and Rafael Carvajal combined on a three-hitter in a 1-0 win over the Brooklyn Cyclones on Friday night. Williamsport's win in the opener of the six-game homestand is the third straight victory and improved the team's record to 7-2 in the last nine games.

It is the second shutout in a row for the duo of Leverett and Tejada who were joined by Jake Kinney last Saturday at Batavia in a five-hitter on their way to a 7-0 triumph. Those two games are the only nine-inning shutouts of the season for the Crosscuters.

Only three times in the game did a batter for Brooklyn (26-20) get to three balls in the count. Two of those were the last two batters of the game. Leverett and Tejada combined to retire 15 consecutive batters during a particularly dominating stretch for Williamsport (17-29) from the second through the seventh.

Logan O'Hoppe blasted an RBI double off the wall in left in the first inning to account for the game's only run. Nicolas Torres went 3-for-3.

The second of the three-game series is Saturday at 7:05 p.m. with RHP Carlos Francisco scheduled to start for the Crosscutters.
