
Three 'Dads Win Rangers Monthly Awards

HICKORY, NC - The Texas Rangers have announced their monthly minor league award winners for the month of April, featuring three Crawdads - OF Chris Grayson won hitter of the month, C Kellin Deglan won defender of the month and RHP Randol Rojas won reliever of the month. Former Crawdads RHP Justin Grimm ('11), who is currently with the Frisco RoughRiders (AA), also won pitcher of the month.
Grayson, 22, hit .400 (32-for-80) with 10 doubles, three triples, two homers, and 11 RBIs through 21 games in April. The Monroe, Louisiana native put together a 12-game hitting streak from April 8 - 22 and hit safely in 19 of his 21 games overall. Grayson currently ranks 2nd in the South Atlantic League with a .366 batting average, 3rd with 11 doubles and is tied for 4th with a pair of triples. He is also 5th with a .463 on-base percentage. Grayson was selected by the Rangers in the 13th round of the 2011 draft out of Lee University.
Deglan, 20, currently ranks as the top defensive catcher in the South Atlantic League, leading all backstops with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in 167 total chances. The Langley, British Columbia native also leads the league in throwing out base stealers, nabbing 40.9 percent (9-for-22). Offensively, Deglan is batting .257 with three home runs and nine doubles through 22 games played this season. He was selected by Texas in the 1st round of the 2011 draft out of high school.
Rojas, 21, started the season with the 'Dads before being promoted to High-A Myrtle Beach on April 24. The Valencia, Venezuela native posted a combined 1-0 record with a 0.48 ERA through six relief outings in the month. Through 12.2 innings of work with the 'Dads, Rojas struck out 13 batters, allowing just one run on six hits. He then retired 15 of the first 18 batters he faced with Myrtle Beach. Rojas signed with the Rangers as a non-drafted free agent in 2008.
