Dylan Bundy Named Minor League Pitcher of Month

Salisbury, Md. - The Baltimore Orioles Player Development Department announced on Monday that Delmarva Shorebirds right-handed pitcher Dylan Bundy has been named the Orioles Minor League Pitcher of the Month for April. The 19-year old tossed 17 scoreless innings during the month of April.

Bundy, the fourth overall selection in the 2011 draft, did not allow a hit until his fifth start of the season. In 17 total innings in April, he struck out 25 batters and walked just two. The South Atlantic League batted .020 (1-for-50) against Bundy during April. Bundy went 13 straight innings without allowing a hit until Delta Cleary, Jr. of Asheville singled to left field in the first inning on April 30.

The Owasso, Oklahoma native made his first start of May on Monday against Charleston and struck out a career best eight batters over three innings. He allowed just one hit.

Bundy has not allowed an earned run in 20 straight innings to begin his career.

Former Shorebirds outfielder Ron Welty was honored as the Orioles Minor League Player of the Month for April.
