MONTREAL - CF Montréal announced Monday that three Academy players will train with Bologna FC's U17 and U18 teams for a three-week training camp.
Midfielders Alessandro Biello and Emrick Fotsing, as well as fullback Gaël de Montigny, will fly to Bologna on Monday to train through December 22. The three Academy products will join midfielders Jesse Saputo, who has been with the Bologna U17s since this season, and Matteo Schiavoni, who was with the Italian club's U19 side since 2022.
"This training stint is part of a continuing effort by the Club to increase synergy with Bologna," said CF Montréal Vice-President and Chief Sporting Officer Olivier Renard. "This is an excellent opportunity for them to prove that they can compete in a different high-level environment. They will be able to continue their soccer development here and return to Montreal with more experience."
Alessandro Biello, a 17-year-old midfielder, joined the organization via the CF Montréal Pre-Academy in 2014. He was recently selected by the Canadian team that took part in the U17 World Cup last November.
A product of AS Mascouche (now Union Lanaudière Sud), 16-year-old midfielder Emrick Fotsing joined the CF Montréal Academy from AS Blainville in 2021.
Gaël de Montigny, a 17-year-old fullback recently selected for the MLS NEXT All-Star Game, also made his debut with the CF Montreal Pre-Academy in 2016. He also represented Canada at the U17 World Cup in Indonesia.
