Three Alouette prospects sign

Montreal, Dec. 7, 2005 - Montreal Alouettes' Vice President and General Manager Jim Popp announced today that three young prospects have signed new contracts. Receivers Terrence Edwards and Adam Eckert as well as linebacker Grant Steen have each signed for one year plus an option.

Terrence Edwards (6'0'', 171 lbs), brother of starting running back Robert Edwards, played two games with the Alouettes in 2005, scoring a kickoff return touchdown last Sept. 2. He and Robert both scored a touchdown in that game, a first in team history. He spent the majority of the year on the Alouettes' practice roster. The best receiver in SEC history, Edwards totalled 3,093 yards and 30 touchdowns on 204 career receptions with the University of Georgia Bulldogs. He is 26.

Adam Eckert (5'10'', 176 lbs) was chosen by the Alouettes in the sixth round of the 2005 Canadian draft. He spent the entire season on the practice roster. Eckert led all receivers at Dickinson State in 2004 with 582 yards and four majors on 30 receptions in 12 games. He was named first-team All-DAC in 2003. He is 27.

Grant Steen (6'3'', 242 lbs) joined the Alouettes near the end of the 2005 campaign after starting the year with the NFL New England Patriots. Steen played the last game of the year for Montreal against the Tiger-Cats in Hamilton, making two tackles. He totalled 103 tackles in 35 career games with the Iowa Hawkeyes and set a team record with three interceptions in a game. He is 25.
