Thrashers Deal Dawes to Montreal

The Atlanta Thrashers have recalled left wing NIGEL DAWES and traded him to the Montreal Canadiens with defenseman BRENT SOPEL in exchange for forward BEN MAXWELL and a fourth round selection in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

DAWES scored two goals in the Wolves 4-3 win over Rockford last night. He ranks first on the team and third in the American Hockey League with 27 goals. The 26-year-old forward also ranks fourth on Chicago with 44 points in 47 games this season.

The Winnipeg, Manitoba, native has appeared in nine outings with Atlanta this year, notching one assist. He spent last season with the NHL's Calgary Flames, where he recorded 32 points (14G, 18A) in 66 contests. Overall, DAWES has amassed 45 assists and 84 points in 208 career NHL outings spanning five seasons with the New York Rangers, Phoenix Coyotes, Flames and Thrashers (2006 to present.)

The Wolves travel to Wisconsin for an Amtrak Rivalry matchup with the Milwaukee Admirals at the Bradley Center on Friday at 7 p.m.
